亲爱的家长们:
上周日由校委会和家长会联合举办的第一次OPEN HOUSE在威郡社区大学（WCC）取得圆满成功。 许多新老华夏家长踊跃参加。学前班陈璇老师，五年级鞠晓鹏老师，七年级唐景人老师和珠算老师到场回答家长的问题。深受家长喜爱的学前班陈璇老师对新华夏家长应接不暇。珠算老师和孩子们互动，传授心珠算。在此我们向大家表示深深的感谢。
一流的学校关键是有一流的师资，一流的师资培养一流的学生。
华夏纽约中心学校继承了整个华夏系统教学经验最为丰富的标准中文教师队伍：任教华夏数十余年的陈鲁鸣老师, 王明宇老师，李晓京老师，杨志耕老师和殷常红老师, 又有热爱幼儿教育，充满爱心的学前班陈璇老师，五年级鞠晓鹏老师，七年级唐景人老师，八年级王硕老师。
同时，我们致力于进一步加强我们的马立平教学，聘请到两位有经验丰富、高素质的优秀马立平教师领导我们的马立平教研组: 语言学专家和马立平资深教师李冬梅老师拥有十余年中文教学经验, 其中两年任教于哈佛大学。李老师一直从事于双语教学的挑战和战略研究. 她曾在众多学术会议上讲演, 发表过多篇学术论文. 她目前的教学兴趣是马立平中文和SAT中文。丁丽老师是资深马立平教师, 在康州 Stamford和Norwalk 中文学校教授中文六年。 在李冬梅和丁丽老师领导下，我校将有我们社区最好的马立平教师队伍和质量最高的马立平中文班（请点击阅读教师简介）。许多家长已给孩子们报了我校的马立平班。
丰富多彩的文体课是华夏纽约中心学校的一大亮点。在已开出三十二门文体课的基础上，更多的新文体课：家政理财课，书法课和SAT VERBAL即将开课。许多文体课，奥数大班，SAT数学，象棋，围棋和民族舞即将报满。家长们可以查看学校网站http://www.hxnyc.org, 尽快注册。
在第一次OPEN HOUSE的成功基础上，我们将于8/26日在WCC再次举办Open House和现场注册。届时，任课老师和校委会现场回答家长对于课程，校务的问题和建议。 请家长留意网站通知。

华夏纽约中心学校 at WCC 校委会及家长会
Dear Parents,
Our Open House held at WCC this past Sunday was a great success. Many new 
families visited us and got to know our school and the wonderful curriculum we offer. Teacher Chen, Xuan, Ju, Xiaopeng and Tang, Jingren were on site to answer any questions related to our language classes. The Abacus teacher demonstrated to the children how a small abacus can improve their mental arithmetic. Many returning families also dropped by to say hello and showed their moral support. We would like to say thank you to all who came.
We would also like to share with you the exciting news of the appointment of 2 MLP specialists who will join our faculty this fall. Ms. Li, Dongmei has taught Chinese at all levels and to all age group students over a decade including 2 years at Harvard University. She will be teaching MLP to our 4th graders in the fall. Ms. Ding, Li who has over 6 years of teaching Chinese in Connecticut, will be teaching MLP to our 3rd graders in the fall. Under the leadership of Ms. Li and Ms. Ding, we will have one of the strongest MLP programs in our region.
We are also very proud of our team of Standard Chinese teachers, some of whom have been with us for over a decade. These teachers are highly experienced and professional, and are among the best in the region. We hope that this reassures parents that our commitment to excellence extends to all teaching methods and textbooks. (Read Teachers’ Credentials)
For those of you who have yet to register, we urge you to do so at your earliest convenience. Please visit our website at www.hxnyc.org for class listings. Some of the more popular culture classes such as Olympic Math, SAT Math, GO, Dance and Chess are being filled up quickly.
Based on the good response to our Open House last Sunday, we will be holding a 2nd Open House on Sunday, August 26th for those who might have missed it. Please look out for more information on our website or in the upcoming newsletter.
