Weekly Newsletter 08/30/2012

The first day of school is fast approaching. We would like to welcome you and your family back for another exciting year at our WCC campus. As in the past 16 years, we will continue our tradition of providing you with the best education in both Chinese language and culture.

A new school year always brings changes. In addition to our experienced teachers, we are happy to announce that 14 new teachers will join us this fall. This will reinvigorate our teaching faculty and improve the quality of our language education.

Thanks to the support of parents and teachers, class registration is going smoothly. Lower grades of MLP and some culture classes such as chess, SAT Math, Math Olympiad and Folk Dance are being filled to capacity. We urge you to register soon at the School’s On-Line Registration System to secure the class of your choice.

Our 2nd Open House held last Sunday was a great success. Both new and returning parents participated with great enthusiasm. In addition to answering questions and helping with the registration, we also listened to the concerns and suggestions from parents and teachers. It was a great exchange of ideas and a display of friendship and solidarity.

Our preparedness for the new school year is going well. WCC has been tremendous in their support for our effort. In the new school year, WCC will allow us access to their multi-media educational equipments, further enhancing our teaching quality.

On Sunday, September 2nd, we are holding our first in-house teacher training session (Teacher Orientation Agenda) where all language teachers will be present to discuss teaching plans for the new school year. We invite all parents to come. Once again, we will try to answer all your questions and help you with on-site registration.

We look forward to welcoming all of you back. Together, we will rebuild the Huaxia community where our children succeed and thrive.

Dear Parents,

We are excited to share with you that after many hours of tireless work by our team members, parents and teachers, our brand new website is now open for browsing and our online registration will officially open on August 8th.

As have been in the past 16 years, we will continue to operate at the WCC campus on Sunday mornings, offering 2 hours of Chinese language class and 1 hour of recreational/cultural class from 9:30 to 12:30. We continue to have access to all the athletic facilities at WCC such the gym and the tennis court.

Most senior language teachers have chosen to stay with us and they will be able to teach all classes in a most professional way. We will continue to offer all three language classes including MLP Chinese, MZ Chinese, Standard Chinese and CSL.

Almost all culture class teachers are staying with us. In addition to the existing popular cultural classes and adult clubs, we are offering a few new cultural classes/clubs such as Tai Chi, Abacus and Chinese Cultural and Arts Performance Workshop.

We sincerely hope that you and your family will join us at WCC in the fall. We need one another to rebuild our community where educating our children takes top priority, where parents no longer have to choose sides. With your help, we will recover from the worst crisis in our school history. With your help, we will bring back a culture of trust, a spirit of volunteerism and camaraderie. Together, we will give our children a harmonious and stimulating environment to achieve and to thrive.

We, as members of the Admin and PTA teams, pledge that we will:

1) Serve the community selflessly, and without regard of personal gain.
2) Promote transparent school policies and timely communications.
3) Emphasize team work and not let personal grudges get in the way of our work.
4) Not tolerate nepotism in any fashion by members.
5) Not tolerate personal attacks and slander through anonymous blogging by members.
